Rummage Sale

Textstyles' rarely promotes sample sales, events or the likes but last night this came across my lap: American Apparel Rummage Sale Toronto. I don't need to explain why this is a big deal. If you're down and out (like most of us are) then make it happen, holidays around the corner, gifts to be given, hugs to be received.

Clothes Encounters

Say hello to Mykromag's New York Correspondent—loves him. Start at his head and work your way down, visually, it's all about the feet. No doubt, beautiful blazer that fits just right, white crisp shirt poking out, eyeglasses jauntily hanging from lapel, creased slacks and the briefcase I'd die a thousand deaths for and then these gold lamé oxfords. Absolutely incongruous with the rest, but somehow I'll make a case for them to stay. The disco shoes coupled with this quiet reserved ensemble makes me wonder hmmm... he'd probably be my friend.
Not to mention legs for days.

Forget the woman in the red dress. Today, it's about a woman in a red suit. Architectural structure with wing harem pants send this suit into hyperspeed 3000. That's the kind of speed I needed to get this shot. Whiplash from turning around and double-taking as this fiery bullet sped by. But, it was worth it. This is the kind of suit the 80s were talking about: power. Forget shoulder pads like a QBs, this two-piece demands you to watch slack jawed. Part of what I love most about this shot is the green complimentary to the red. So far from scripted I trust you.

studio space

What I wished my studio looked like. If I had a studio. This has always been an obsession, clean spaces, pretty things set-up in corners and zero clutter. I grew up in a house where there were two studios, one for costume, the other for building. I still love being in those spaces. So when I went to conduct this interview I was so pleasantly surprised.

Clothes Encounters

Sarah from Cozette. The dress was so naughty and nice in a south of the border kinda way. Simple things done well speak louder than the loudest decibel. What struck my eye with Sarah was that the whole was so esthetically calming. Not until I started clickin' away did I realize everything that was going on: orange, black lace, white native indigenous piping, leopard and carpet. I liked it even though it may seem incongruous with my tendency to clean lines. Maybe it's like when you're searching for a mate? You appreciate style that balances your own, ying to your yang, calvin klein to alexander mcqueen.
